Maria's Sui Kow Wan Tan Mee
| Non-Halal
Old-school tok-tok mee and sui-kow.
Tok-tok mee is a Penang slang for wan tan mee. Last time, wan tan mee was usually sold from push carts. While pushing their carts, the sellers used bamboo sticks to make the “tok tok” sound to let the customers know they were in the area. This particular store has been around for a really long time. The wan tan and sui-kow (pork and shrimp dumplings) are outstanding - meaty and flavourful, soup is piping hot and savoury.
With its tiled floor, tiled wall, wooden booths and marble tables, this place seems to have frozen in time. Eating here immediately transported me back to my childhood.
