Hakka Mee & Yong Tau Foo: A Rare Gem in Penang! 🍜
Coming from the South, I’ve always taken Hakka mee and yong tau foo (tofu and veggies stuffed with fish/pork paste) for granted—they’re everywhere there! But in predominantly Hokkien Penang, finding them is a rare treat.
Imagine my excitement finding this place! 😄 Stepping in, I was greeted by a tempting assortment of stuffed items.
The fish paste—the ultimate test of good yong tau foo—had the perfect bouncy texture and great flavor. I especially loved the stuffed crunchy baby kailan! The clear soup was savory and "fishy" in the best way possible. As for the Hakka mee? Absolutely solid, easily the best I've had in Penang. The ultra-tender chicken feet were awesome too.
