Gurney Drive Hawker Center
The Iconic Gurney Drive Hawker Centre.
This "under the moonlight" spot has been around since the 70s. It was once THE go-to place for tourists. But these days the crowds are thinner, and locals often steer clear.
We decided to visit for a dose of nostalgia before they move opposite to Gurney Bay (whenever that may be!). It was a nice, cool night—one end had a decent crowd, while the other was almost empty. Interestingly, the overall prices aren’t crazily high—some are even cheaper than the newer food courts.
Taste-wise, pretty decent. We really enjoyed the rojak and soya cincau—it's such a nostalgic drink. I'll admit I was skeptical about coming here, but it turned out to be relaxing and enjoyable.
Tip: Make sure to order drinks from the stall nearest your table, as those vendors are usually the ones responsible for cleaning after you.
