Fish steamboat time! 🍲❤️
When it comes to fish steamboat, this decades old proper Chinese banquet restaurant is one of the top favourites among Penang old-timers. Perhaps due to the mahjong tiles 🀄️ and antique Chinese furnishings, stepping into the lobby some how reminds me of TVB dramas—very nostalgic! 😄
We were here for two things: their famous Fish Steamboat (RM138) and Braised Seafood Hor Fun--flat wide rice noodle (RM30).
The Steamboat: Comes in a standard size regardless of pax. The milky, umami, free-flow soup is loaded with fried fish head chunks. The set includes two plates of veggies topped with fresh grouper slices and a plate of glass noodles and beancurd skin. It was superb and way more than enough for four adults!
The Hor Fun: topped with fresh prawns and fish slices with a hint of fermented bean paste—yum.
Tip: As with most Chinese banquet spots, expect about 30% extra on top of the menu price for tea, rice, wet towels, titbits, service charge, and SST.
