Abang Bawal Lejen Bagan Jermal

Legendarily mantap 👍
Unassuming and without a signboard, this warung (roadside stall) right by the busy main road outside Grandview Condo serves up delicious Malay cooking. It is usually crowded at dinner time, especially on weekends and public holidays.
This time, we had their famous Set Bawal Kicap (soy sauce black pomfret, RM15–RM18) and Ayam Masak Paprik (paprik chicken, RM7). The set came with rice, fish curry with two ladyfingers, sambal belacan, and sambal kicap. The fish was fresh and perfectly fried—crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Its fins were practically like crackers! The soy sauce was sweet, super spicy but highly addictive. The paprik shared a similar sweet and spicy profile but was milder, with a nice smoky flavor that made it equally delicious.
The food is tasty, portions are huge, and prices are reasonable—no wonder it's a crowd-puller. Next time, I'll try the Sotong Tepung (fried calamari) that I saw on almost every table! 😄
